Anthropologie is the latest retailer to introduce a clothing collection aimed at better meeting the needs of people with disabilities.
The company said it launched its first adaptive collection this month in response to demand from the disability community for more inclusive offerings.
The initial assortment includes eight of the brand’s popular pieces that have been modified to include adaptable features such as magnetic closures, zipper openings along the inseams of the pants, and pull tabs and snaps for customizable length adjustments. The company indicated that all modifications were designed to make the clothing more comfortable, easier to wear and easier to put on and take off.

Anthropologie worked with Lucy Jones, founder and CEO of disability-focused fashion lifestyle brand FFORA, and a group of disabled influencers to create and perfect adaptive clothing. In addition to the modified designs, the adaptive collection highlights other pieces from the retailer that influencers selected.
“Recognising that for many women, the simple act of dressing can be a challenge, we set out to extend the pleasure of our most treasured items to everyone, including people with disabilities,” said Richa Srivastava, chief creative director of concept and design at women. in Anthropology. “By collaborating across teams, we put passion into every aspect of development, humbly navigating the complexities of adaptive design. The real reward was witnessing the enthusiasm of our fit collaborators, whose comments affirmed the profound impact of inclusive fashion.”
The adaptive line is available in stores and online and is expected to be an ongoing offering, the company said.
