Hive To Table Dinner • Kath Eats

While at Bear Lake Reserve, we went to dinner from hive to table with Killer Bees Honey. Here’s the rundown.

this !

Every year on our family trip, the grandparents take the kids for a night while the “young adults” go out to dinner. This year we stumbled upon a special party. Dinner from the hive to the table happening while we were there at the Mill Pond Pavilion in Bear Lake PreserveIt was the perfect setting for a night of partying without the kids.

The stage

The pavilion was next to the Mill Pond and had a mossy, ferny air on a cool summer evening.

Welcome drink

A Bees Knees, of course! We had an open bar for any other drinks we wanted during dinner.

Killer bee honey

Since the theme of the dinner was bees, there was a honey tasting, a short talk about beekeeping and honey, and of course, most of the food was infused with honey.

Guests of honor were Sean and Denise from Killer bee honey. With apiaries located in Western North Carolina near the Pisgah National Forest, Killer Bees has won many awards for the quality and flavor of their honey.

We bought some Sourwood to take home!

Delicatessen

We enjoyed a family-style charcuterie course.

Salad plate

Buffet Dinner

Dinner was delicious, with honey chicken, Brussels sprouts, and a carrot and sweet potato gratin. Plus, a berry cheesecake for dessert!

The viewpoint

If you’re heading to Bear Lake Reserve, be sure to head to The Overlook for the best sunset and views of the surrounding area.
