My closet has been overflowing lately, so I’ve had to buy a lot less until I can decide what I need to throw out. As fall approaches, new styles are popping up that are finally interesting enough to motivate me more to clean out the excess hanging in my bedroom. Target released a new set of Future Collective styles, as well as some new fall/transitional styles in their in-house brands. I placed an order and bought a Try it on TikTokand I wanted to share that information here as well.

Sizing Information: Most of these items are available in sizes XS-4X. I am 5’10” with a long torso and a broad tummy, and wear a size 4X in all items.
Contrast knit sleeveless ankle length dress – Future Collective
This dress first caught my eye with the new Future Collective items. It’s a drop-waist dress. The top is a thick material with a bit of stretch, but the bottom is like a windbreaker-type fabric. It will definitely make “swoosh” noises when you walk. The skirt is voluminous, but the top doesn’t stretch much, so I advise against going one size smaller. I really like it in person, if you can stand the noise of the fabric. I’m going to play around with how to layer it – drop-waist dresses aren’t something I usually wear, but it’s a fun challenge.

This dress is great for a fall transition. The fabric is a light stretchy knit that gets slightly sheer when fully stretched. It could be paired well with a biker jacket and boots. It’s very comfortable. It has an asymmetrical seam at the waist, which is interesting, but I don’t think it really sets it apart from any other maxi dress. Still, it’s nice for warm fall weather.

I never pass up a good sequin skirt, so this champagne sequin skirt was a must-have in my cart. It’s good quality and has a pretty eyelash lace detail peeking out at the bottom hem. It’s stretchy, so it’s comfortable to wear.
The cardigan is designed to be “waist-fitting” when buttoned, but I didn’t like how it looked closed – like a cracked tin of biscuits at the bottom, on purpose! But it’s a nice length and good material. It also comes in a more tan shade. I think with denim it would be a nice layering piece. I wouldn’t pair it with this skirt.
The seamless top was a surprise. I bought it to wear under a sheer sweater (below) and it’s a really nice base layer. It has a strappy bra inside, but it doesn’t give any support. I’ll be buying it in other colors because it’s a really nice, soft base layer. It snags easily, so be careful if you’re wearing it as a main layer.

Again, with the dropped waist! In the past, I wouldn’t have even dared to try any of these on, but it’s nice to try new things. I loved the navy blue of the skirt – it looks expensive, even though it’s just a polyester of some kind. To me, it looks like an ultra-high-rise pleated skirt, as I need to wear it at my natural waist (which is high) for it to fit properly. It also comes in a cream print. I think if you have a straighter/column figure and less of an apple shape, it might look totally different on you.

This is a sheer sweater and does not include an outer layer, so keep that in mind if you order it. It also comes in black. I really like the look of this as a sheer layer, but I will say that if you have sensory issues with textured fabrics, this may not be the model for you. It’s not scratchy, but it does have a texture to it that I think may be an issue for some people.
This skirt is a revelation. It’s fleece! It has an elastic waistband! An interior drawstring! Pockets! Basically, the perfect casual piece for when you want to be comfortable but not frumpy. The comfort of loose-fitting sweatpants with the look of a maxi skirt with a front slit. Also available in grey.
