Xbox Releases New Adaptive Gaming Controllers

Microsoft has announced several new additions to its line of adaptive gaming products.

The Xbox Adaptive Joystick is a new accessible controller for people with limited hand function, designed to be used alongside other Xbox controllers including the Xbox Adaptive Controller and standard Xbox controllers. The Xbox Adaptive Joystick has one thumbstick, four customizable buttons, and two customizable triggers. You can use it with one hand, mount it to a table or wheelchair for stability, or mount it where you can use it with other body parts, like your chin. The Xbox Adaptive Joystick will launch in early 2025 for $29.99.

Additionally, two new Adaptive Controllers are now available through Designed for Xbox partners. 8BitDo has launched the Lite SE 2.4G Wireless Controller, which features low-resistance buttons that sit on the top of the controller and thumbsticks. The SE Lite comes with two customizable Super Buttons that are also compatible with the Xbox Adaptive Controller. It’s available in select markets worldwide for $59.99.

ByoWave has released the Proteus modular controller. The Proteus kit allows gamers to build a highly customizable controller that includes modules that snap together easily and can be configured with many combinations of buttons and joysticks. You can build the Proteus to be used with just one finger. The Proteus is available in the US, UK, Europe and Canada for $299.99.

Microsoft also released 3D printable files for customizable joystick toppers. The joystick toppers come in five shapes that you can customize to fit your needs. The 3D printable files are now available for free, though printing costs vary.
